Day 1 - Zagreb 

Arrival in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. In the morning, sightseeing of the historic core with emphasis on Ban Josip Jelačić Square, the central place of Zagreb life and a symbol of national identity. Through a walk in the Upper Town and Lower Town, we get to know the architecture, history and spirit of Zagreb – from the Cathedral and Stone Gate to Zrinjevac. Enjoying the city atmosphere and free time for coffee in one of the traditional cafés. Hotel accommodation and overnight stay.

Day 2 - Zaprešić | Gornja Stubica Desinić Trakošćan Varaždin 

After breakfast, departure to Zaprešić and visit to the New Courts of Jelačić, an impressive complex that includes a castle, economic buildings, the Chapel of St. Joseph and the Jelačić family mausoleum. Through the tour, the life and legacy of Ban Josip Jelačić is revealed, a military leader and politician who abolished serfdom in 1848 and became a permanent symbol of the Croatian struggle for freedom and unity.

The journey continues towards Gornja Stubica and Oršić Castle, one of the most beautiful Baroque castles of Hrvatsko Zagorje, which today houses the Museum of Peasant Revolts. Through the museum exhibition, the story of Matija Gubec and the largest uprising of oppressed peasants from 1573 comes to life – a legend that still symbolizes the fight for justice.

In the afternoon arrival in Desinić and sightseeing of Veliki Tabor Castle, among the best preserved late medieval fortresses of continental Croatia. With a guide, we learn about the legend of Veronika of Desinić and Frederick of Celje, whose tragic love story marked the history of the castle and turned it into a lasting symbol of forbidden love.

Continuation towards Trakošćan, a romantic castle from the 13th century which for centuries was owned by the Drašković family. Tour of richly decorated rooms, park and lake arranged in English landscape style. The castle today functions as a museum with an exhibition of furniture, weapons and artworks depicting the life of Croatian nobility from the 15th to the 19th century.

In the evening arrival in Varaždin, hotel accommodation and overnight stay.

Day 3 - Varaždin | Trenkovo | Našice | Valpovo | Osijek |  

Breakfast in Varaždin and city sightseeing, known for its rich architecture and numerous palaces: Sermage, Drašković, Oršić, Varaždin County Palace, Patačić, Keglević, Nitzky and Zakmardy, as well as the Old Town Varaždin, which through centuries was the center of political, military and cultural life.

After the tour of Varaždin, the journey leads us to Trenkovo, where a visit to Trenkovo Castle follows, an elegant one-storey building surrounded by a park arranged in French and English style. Here come to life the stories of the legendary Baron Franjo Trenk, a well-known military leader from the 18th century and founder of “Trenk’s Pandurs” – distinctive soldiers whose fame has outlived centuries. Particularly intriguing is the legend of Trenk’s funeral, when, according to tradition, the embalmed body of his most loyal servant was placed at the table during dinner – a scene that still inspires admiration and curiosity among visitors today.

We continue towards Našice and the magnificent Pejačević Castle, today the Local Heritage Museum. Through the richly decorated interior and horticulturally arranged park, we get to know the Pejačević family, one of the most influential Croatian noble lineages that gave numerous cultural and political figures.

This is followed by departure to Valpovo and a visit to the Prandau-Normann Castle, a unique complex that includes a medieval tower and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. This castle was for centuries the center of noble life in eastern Croatia and today testifies to the rich history of Valpovo and its patrons.

Arrival in Osijek, a city on the Drava River and the cultural center of Slavonia. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 - Osijek | Vukovar | Ilok | Osijek |  

The day begins with sightseeing of Osijek – Tvrđa, County Palace, Normann Palace and Pejačević Castle tell the story of a city that for centuries was home to Slavonian aristocracy. A walk through Baroque streets reveals the spirit of a former military and cultural center on the banks of the Drava.

The journey leads us to Vukovar, where we visit the magnificent Eltz Castle, one of the most famous examples of Baroque architecture in Croatia. The castle was for centuries owned by the German noble family Eltz, which marked the economic and social development of this region.

We continue towards Ilok, the easternmost town of Croatia. Visit to Odescalchi Castle, which today operates as a museum, and tour of the famous Ilok cellars, one of the oldest wine complexes in the country. With tasting of Graševina and other indigenous wines, visitors experience a blend of history, tradition and top enology.

Return to Osijek, accommodation and overnight stay.

Day 5 - Kutjevo | Karlovac |  

After breakfast, the journey takes us to the heart of Slavonia, to the well-known wine center Kutjevo. Visit to Pejačević Castle and historic Kutjevo cellars, whose wine tradition dates back to the 13th century. In the ambiance of the old cellar, visitors can taste top-quality wines and get to know the rich enological heritage of the Pejačević family, which for centuries developed viticulture and the culture of life of this region.

After lunch in a local restaurant with traditional Slavonian dishes, the journey leads us to Karlovac, a city on four rivers, known for its Renaissance urban core and rich cultural-historical heritage. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 - Karlovac | Ogulin | Kraljevica | Krk | 

The day begins with sightseeing of the Old Town Dubovac, one of the oldest preserved fortifications in Croatia, which was once owned by the powerful Zrinski family. During the tour, we also visit the Vranyczany Palace, which testifies to the long tradition of Croatian nobility and their role in the cultural and economic life of the country.

The journey continues towards Ogulin, a town of fairy tales and legends, where we visit the Frankopan Castle, once owned by the distinguished Frankopan family, one of the most influential Croatian noble lineages. Their history, intertwined with the struggles for preserving Croatian independence, comes to life through the guide’s story and the atmosphere of the old town.

This is followed by a drive towards Kraljevica and a visit to Nova Kraljevica Castle, located right by the sea. The castle historically had an important defensive and residential function and today is restored and open to visitors.

Arrival on the island of Krk, hotel accommodation and dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 7 - Krk | 

After breakfast, a full-day tour of the island of Krk follows, the cradle of Croatian literacy and Glagolitic tradition. Visit to picturesque places Vrbnik, Baška and Jurandvor, where the famous Baška Tablet is preserved, one of the oldest monuments of the Croatian language and Glagolitic script. In Vrbnik we learn about the history of the Vrbnik Statute and the cultural heritage of island nobility. A walk through old stone streets, sightseeing of local vineyards and tasting of Vrbnik žlahtina and traditional specialties with a sea view complete the day’s experience. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 8 - Senj | Knin | Šibenik | 

In the morning departure towards the mainland and travel to Senj, a town of long maritime and warrior history. Sightseeing of Vukasović Palace, known as the “House of Maria Theresa”, and visit to Nehaj Fortress, a symbol of the courage of the Uskoks. The guide will evoke stories of Ivan Vlatković – Morlach Ivan, a legendary Uskok who defended the coast from Ottoman and Venetian attacks. 

The journey continues towards Knin, the former capital of Croatian kings. Visit to the magnificent Knin Fortress, one of the largest in Europe, with a panoramic view of the town and its surroundings. We get to know the story of King Zvonimir, who ruled from Knin in the 11th century, leaving a deep mark on Croatian history and legend.

In the afternoon, arrival in Šibenik, one of the oldest Dalmatian cities with a rich Renaissance and Baroque heritage. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9 - Šibenik | Zadar |

After breakfast, a sightseeing tour of Šibenik follows, the first native Croatian city on the Adriatic. Walking through the historic core, we get to know its palaces – Galbiani, Šižgorić, Rossini, Ježina, Pellegrini-Tambača, Draganić, Divnić – which testify to the centuries-old wealth and importance of the Šibenik nobility. Special emphasis is placed on the Pellegrini-Tambača family, whose palaces are still jewels of Dalmatian architecture.

After lunch by the coast, the journey continues towards Zadar, a city of thousand-year history and the former seat of Dalmatian noble families. Sightseeing of the Rector’s and Providur’s Palaces, and a visit to the Museum of Ancient Glass, where centuries-old skills of glass making and processing that marked Zadar’s craft tradition are presented. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10 - Plitvice lakes | Zagreb | 

The last day of the journey takes us to one of the most famous Croatian natural wonders – Plitvice Lakes National Park, the oldest and most visited national park in Croatia, inscribed on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List. A walk along waterfalls and lakes, a boat ride on Lake Kozjak, and enjoyment of the landscape that combines unspoiled nature and the tranquility of continental Croatia.

After the visit to the park, a return to Zagreb is planned, where this journey through the centuries of Croatian nobility, castles and legends comes to an end – a story of a land in which history and culture still live in every stone.
