Trekking Above the Sea

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Solin – Kozjak

Departure from Solin, the site of the ancient city of Salona, where the urban landscape quickly gives way to the authentic Dalmatian karst. The ascent to Kozjak follows old shepherds' paths through dry-stone walls, Mediterranean shrubland, and fragrant native herbs, offering continuous views of Split and the Adriatic islands. Arrival at Putalj Mountain Hut provides the first true immersion in nature, crowned by a spectacular sunset over Kaštela Bay.

Day 2 – Kozjak – Perun – Podstrana

The ridge trail towards Perun offers varied terrain and fascinating stories connected to Slavic mythology. The route symbolically links nature with cultural heritage, while the descent towards Podstrana marks the return to the coastline. The day concludes with a relaxing dinner featuring traditional Dalmatian specialties.

Day 3 – Podstrana – Omiška Dinara

Entering the Omiška Dinara mountain range reveals dramatic cliffs and spectacular views of the Cetina River canyon and the Adriatic Sea. This trekking stage creates a unique connection between mountains and the sea. Overnight accommodation in a mountain shelter offers an authentic experience of the Dalmatian hinterland.

Day 4 – Omiška Dinara – Dubci – Šćirovac

The route towards Biokovo passes through rugged karst landscapes and remote high plateaus characterised by pristine nature and complete tranquillity. Overnight accommodation in a mountain shelter or bivouac further enhances the expedition-style experience within a safe and professionally guided environment.

Day 5 – Biokovo – St. Ilija

Entering the Biokovo massif reveals the striking contrast between mountains and the sea. The ascent towards St. Ilija rewards hikers with breathtaking panoramic views stretching from the Adriatic islands to the inland mountains. Throughout the day, participants discover the unique flora, fauna, and traditional way of life in this remarkable mountain environment.

Day 6 – Biokovo – Sveti Jure

The ascent to Sveti Jure, the highest peak of Biokovo, is one of the programme's most memorable experiences. Sweeping views over the Dalmatian coastline and islands create an extraordinary feeling of openness and freedom. Arrival at the mountain hut provides time to relax and share impressions in an authentic alpine setting.

Day 7 – Biokovo – Vošac

This panoramic stage towards Vošac offers uninterrupted views of the Makarska Riviera and the surrounding islands.
